The operation of cold rolling mill is to achieve plastic deformation by applying pressure to metal materials through multiple sets of rolls, and its core process can be divided into the following stages:
1. Preparation
raw material pretreatment
Metal materials (such as steel plate, aluminum plate) need to remove the surface oxide layer and impurities first to ensure the rolling quality .
The device starts
Start cooling system, lubrication system, hydraulic pump and other auxiliary equipment, and check thickness gauge, tension control and other devices are normal .
2. Rolling process
feeding and positioning
The metal coil is fed into the mill through the uncoiler, and the position is adjusted by the guide roller and the straightener to ensure that the strip is centered and straight .
Some models use hydraulic shear to remove the defect part of the strip head .
roll system adjustment and threading
Adjust the roll spacing (roll gap) according to the target thickness and install the appropriate work roll .
After the strip is passed through the mill, the head is clamped by the coiler and wound several turns to establish the initial tension .

The roll rotates at high speed driven by the motor, applying pressure to the strip to reduce its thickness, while keeping the strip stable by a tension control system .
In reversible rolling mode, the strip is repeatedly passed through the mill, adjusting the roll gap and rolling force at each pass until the target thickness is reached.
Third, post-processing stage
Cooling and lubrication
The strip and roll are cooled by a spray system during rolling, while rolling oil is used to reduce friction and protect surface quality .
Cutting and winding
The finished rolled strip is picked up by a winder and some models are equipped with flying shears or fixed shears to cut to the required length .
Rewind the specification strip to avoid surface scratches .
Quality testing and recording
Monitor the size and appearance of the finished product with equipment such as thickness gauge and surface detector, and archive the production data .
4. Key control parameters
rolling force and roll gap : directly affect the material thickness and shape accuracy, need to be adjusted in real time .
tension control : the coiler and uncoiler work together to prevent the strip from deviating or breaking .
roll temperature : the cooling system should keep the roll temperature stable to avoid thermal deformation affecting the accuracy .
