cold rolling mill

Cold rolling mill is a new type of steel bar cold rolling processing equipment, which is mainly composed of a working mechanism and a transmission mechanism. The working principle of this equipment is mainly to use the electric motor to drag the steel bar, and use the load- bearing roll and the work roll of the cold rolling mill to jointly apply the force to the two sides of the steel bar. The rolling mill we provide has an advanced automatic thickness control system AGC, and has a complete plate shape detection and control method. The product thickness accuracy and plate shape accuracy are optimized. It can save steel consumption and reduce construction prices.

What is a cold rolling mill?

Cold rolling is a work hardening process that changes the structure of metals and is often used to process metals such as steel. Read on to learn more about what a cold rolling mill is, how it is produced, and what it is used for.

In simple terms, cold rolling is the process of strengthening steel by changing its shape without heating. Cold rolling, unlike hot rolling (such as hot rolled steel), can only be performed when the metal is below its recrystallization temperature. Hot rolling at high temperature and cold rolling at room temperature. Instead of heat, mechanical stress is used to change the structure of a metal. Strain hardening can increase the strength of the metal by 20% and also improve the surface finish of the metal.

During the cold rolling process, when the metal is subjected to mechanical stress, the crystal structure of the metal will be permanently changed. This gives it increased strength and often improved corrosion resistance. In addition to improved surface finish, another advantage of cold rolling is higher dimensional accuracy.

The cold mill can be precisely manufactured, allowing the metal to be produced to extremely tight tolerances. Work hardening of metal materials by cold rolling allows us to achieve various degrees of tempering, such as quarter hardness, half hardness and full hardness. The level of hardness depends on how much cold working has been done to the steel. Quarter, half, and full hard stocks have even larger reductions (sometimes up to 50%). This increases the yield point but decreases the ductility of the steel. Quarter-hard steel can be bent without breaking, semi-hard steel can be bent 90 degrees, and all-hard steel can be bent 45 degrees without breaking. Cold-rolled metal is often used in applications where the metal needs to be bent without the risk of breaking.

FAQ

Q: What is a cold rolling mill?

A: Our cold mills have a minimum thickness of 0.1mm and a maximum width of 2100 mm. The diameter of the inner roll is 605mm or 610mm, and the diameter of the outer roll can reach 2000mm, which can accommodate various sizes of metal rolls. In addition, the maximum rolling speed of the mill can reach 1200m/min, ensuring efficient and high-speed production. The maximum roll weight capacity is 35MT, which can meet the requirements of heavy production.

Q: What is the difference between hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill?

A: Hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill are two kinds of metal rolling process used in manufacturing industry. The main difference between the two is the temperature at which the rolling process takes place. In a hot mill, the metal is rolled at temperatures above its recrystallization point, while in a cold mill, the metal is rolled at or slightly above room temperature.Hot rolling is often used to make large metals, where high temperatures make the metal easier to shape and form, resulting in less precise product dimensions but greater strength and ductility. Cold rolling, on the other hand, is used to produce thinner, more precise sheet metal or strip, resulting in a smoother surface finish and tighter tolerances.

Q: What is the cold rolled technique?

A: Cold rolling process is a process of metal working at or slightly above room temperature to reduce metal thickness and improve metal surface finish. The process is commonly used to produce sheet metal, strips and bars with precise dimensions and smooth surfaces.

Q: What is the temperature of a cold rolling mill?

A: The temperature of the cold mill is usually kept at or near room temperature.

Q: Why is cold rolling good?

A: Cold rolling for improved surface finish.

    Cold rolling control dimensional accuracy.

Cold rolling increases strength and hardness.

Cold rolling is suitable for a variety of metal materials.

Q: Why does cold rolling increase hardness?

A: Cold rolling increases the hardness of metals through a process called work hardening, or strain hardening for short. During cold rolling, the metal is subjected to plastic deformation as it passes through the roll at room temperature. This plastic deformation causes dislocations within the metal crystal structure, resulting in an increase in dislocation density. The increase in dislocation density impedes the movement of other dislocations, making it more difficult for them to slip through another dislocation. This causes the metal to become more resistant to deformation, which leads to an increase in hardness and strength.
