The hot rolling machine is a heavy-duty mechanical equipment that processes metal billets into products such as plates, strips, and profiles through high-temperature rolling. The working temperature is usually maintained above the metal's recrystallization temperature (approximately 1100-1250°C), utilizing the metal's plastic deformation property at high temperatures to achieve efficient forming. According to the type of rolled products, it can be classified into main categories such as plate and strip hot rolling machines, section steel hot rolling machines, and pipe hot rolling machines.
Rolling machine frame: It adopts a high-strength cast steel or steel plate welded structure, with common configurations such as two-roll, four-roll, and six-roll. The four-roll rolling machine consists of the working roll and the supporting roll, and can withstand greater rolling force.
Transmission system: It includes the main motor (usually 5000-10000 kW), reducer, gear seat, and universal coupling. Modern units mostly adopt AC variable frequency drive technology.
Heating furnace system: Stepping or push-steel type heating furnaces, equipped with an intelligent temperature control system, ensure uniform heating of the billet to the process temperature.
Auxiliary equipment: High-pressure water descaling device (working pressure 18-40 MPa), roll cooling system, online thickness measuring instrument, laminar cooling device, etc.
III. Technical Characteristics
High-efficiency production capacity: Modern hot continuous rolling units can reach a speed of 25 m/s, with an annual production capacity exceeding 50 million tons.
Precision control: It adopts hydraulic AGC thickness automatic control, with product thickness tolerance reaching ±0.05 mm.
Intelligent development: It integrates PLC control system and has digital twin functions such as rolling force prediction and temperature field simulation.
Energy conservation and environmental protection: The residual heat recovery rate exceeds 60%, and the energy consumption per ton of steel is reduced by 15-20% compared to traditional processes.
IV. Typical Application Domains
Steel industry: Producing hot rolled coil plates, medium-thick plates, H-beams, etc.
Non-ferrous metals: Copper and aluminum hot rolled strip production
Special materials: Titanium alloy, high-temperature alloy sheet rolling With the development of intelligent manufacturing technology, the new generation of hot rolling mills is continuously evolving towards super-large size (with a roll body length of 5500mm), high precision (plate shape control within ±5I), and full-process automation.
