What Is The 4-HI Cold Rolling Machine?

The Process Comparison Between Cold Rolling Mills And Hot Rolling Mills

The 4-HI cold rolling mill (four-roll cold rolling mill) is a mechanical equipment used for processing metal sheet materials. Its core structure consists of a pair of working rolls and a pair of supporting rolls, achieving high-precision rolling through a four-roll configuration. The main features are as follows:
1. Structural characteristics
It adopts a four-roll design (working roll + supporting roll), with the working roll diameter typically ranging from 80 to 110 mm, and the supporting roll diameter can reach 360 mm, and the roll body length is 300 mm.
The rolling force range is wide, from 1600 KN to 2200 KN, and the main motor power can reach 200 KW.
2. Functions and applications
Rolling accuracy: The minimum rolling thickness can reach 0.1 mm, and even 0.3 mm ± 0.005 mm with high-precision control.
Applicable materials: Including plain carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum and other metal sheet strip materials for medium and fine rolling and finished product production.
Technical advantages: It has the characteristics of fast rolling speed, stable tension, and strong plate shape control ability. Some models support automatic micro-tension control.
3. Classification and variants
Irreversible type: Unidirectional rolling, suitable for batch production, with high rolling pressure (such as 2200 KN).
Reversible type: Supports bidirectional rolling, suitable for processes requiring multiple rolling, such as thin plate shape control tests.
Straight pulling type: Specifically designed for high-precision tests, such as the 0.3 mm ultra-thin plate rolling developed by Northeast University. This equipment achieves significant improvements in the surface quality, dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of metal materials through the collaborative action of four rollers. It is one of the core equipment for modern metal processing.
